Czech scenographer Jaroslav Malina and sculptor Malcolm Cochran.
His work
has been influenced by his travels to Cuba, England, and the Czech
Republic as well as by his internships at The Royal Court Theatre
(London) and the Redmoon Theater (Chicago).
His recent scenic designs include Neil Labute’s The Shape of
Things (red herring), and the world premieres of Donald
Freed’s Death of Ivan Ilych and Jorge Ignacio Cortiñas’
The Charm of Preparedness (both at Denison University).
Steinmetz is published in Puppetry International, and is
the winner of the USITT Rose Brand Award for Scenic Design
(2003). He designed scenery and lighting for North.
